Vision:
 

We envision a community that is recognized and celebrated as a diverse, inclusive and safe place where individuals and families thrive--where residents work together to maximize the inherent potential of the community and recognize Vanier’s rich history.

Objectives:

 

The objectives of the Vanier Community Association are to establish and operate a Community Association for the purposes of :
Leading the on-going development of the Association;
Promoting the best interests of the community;
Acting as a voice for the membership and the community as a whole;
Organizing workshops, programs, or events for the benefit of the membership and citizens of Vanier;

Collaborating with other community organizations.

Quartier Vanier's Merchant Association presents its Broom n' Groom Event

The Quartier Vanier Merchants Association will be holding it’s Broom n’ Groom event on Friday May 11th. The event starts at 10 AM at the new Place Vanier site. More details to follow, but suffice to say we have brooms and T-shirts for anyone who wishes to help us make our commercial zone the cleanest, funkiest and most beautiful in all of Ottawa! Graffiti removal in full spring...swing!

Cleaning the Capital 2012!: Forming teams in Vanier!

The City of Ottawa hosts a city-wide event known as Cleaning the Capital. The Cleaning the Capital program runs from April 15th to May 15th, and aims to help community groups, businesses, service providers and residents in working to keep our capital clean. Public Consultation: 222 Beechwood Ave.

1. Public Consultation - Development Proposal for 222 Beechwood Avenue The City of Ottawa has received many comments about this proposal including two from the Vanier Community Association. The City is organizing a public consultation session with the applicants to present the proposed design and answer any questions the community might have. The city planner on the file will also be present to answer any questions you might have about process. The session will take place in the library of the École élémentaire publique Le Trillium at 135 Alice St on Wednesday March 7 at 6:30 pm. Please look at the submission to the city and prepare any questions or comments you might have ahead of time. The information can be found here. The VCA expressed its support for the proposal, on the condition that the applicants provide direct community benefits, specifically for the improvement of Optimist Park. The office of Councillor Fleury may be contacted if you have any questions. The session will take place in the library of the École élémentaire publique Le Trillium at 135 Alice St on Wednesday March 19th at 6:30 pm. Special send-off for the Police Chief Vern White

The Vanier Community is proud to present a special send-off honouring Ottawa Police Chief Vern White. Our hosting of this event is just one way we are thanking Chief White for all he has done for Vanier and its residents. Our application to host a learn to skate program supported by the Sens Foundation and Canadian Tire was approved. Click for more details. Thanks to everyone who has been involved in this project! We're really looking forward to skating season!

Heritage Cemeteries in Our Midst: presented by Michel Prévost

A conference about the history of the region's heritage cemeteries will be presented at the Vanier Museopark (300, des Pères Blancs Ave.) on Wednesday October 19th at 7 pm by Michel Prévost (chief archivist of the University of Ottawa). Come and learn more about Vanier's cemetery! Cost: 5$.
