DRUGS:
If you suspect that drugs are being sold on the street or if there is so much traffic in and out of a house that you think drugs are being sold please report it! If you are witnessing drugs being sold or used, call 613-230-6211. If you have information about drugs, report it at 613-236-1222, ext. 7300.
If you are afraid of your neighbours or if you are aware of any criminal or drug activities and wish to report them and remain anonymous you can call Crime Stoppers at 613-233-TIPS (8477), or visit www.Crimestoppers.ca and use their electronic reporting form (Tips on Line). Crime Stoppers is a community-based program designed to receive anonymous tips that assist the police in solving crime.

Needle Hunters
The Needle Hunter Program is a component of the City of Ottawa’s corporate response to the issue of discarded needles/glass stems.
The City’s Discarded Needles/Glass Stems policy protects the public and the environment by promptly removing discarded needles and glass stems within the City, on public property. The corporate program includes the City’s 3-1-1 24 hour helpline, to arrange for the needles to be picked-up; needle drop boxes strategically located throughout the city at fire stations, pharmacies, hospitals, city buildings and community agencies to facilitate public access to safe disposal of syringes; and a needle hunter program.
In place since 1998, the Needle Hunter Program operates from April 1st to November 30th each year, 7 days a week. This work is contracted out to a social service agency through a tendering process. The Needle Hunters proactively search and collect discarded needles/glass stems and other drug using equipment as well as condoms in locations of particular need, each morning from 7 to 9 a.m.
Remember, if you find a needle on your property or in the community, call the City of Ottawa at 3-1-1 for disposal information and what to do with used needles.

Prostitution
Although it is not illegal to stand on the street, if you suspect a prostitute is working a street in your neighbourhood you should still report it! Call the police at 613-236-1222 ext 7300 to report your concerns. You will not get an immediate response, but it is important to get your concerns on record.
Call 9-1-1 for a crime in progress or life threatening emergency such as an assault or a fight.
Notify your Community Police Centre at 252 McArthur Road or call 613-236-1222, ext. 5823 to report suspicious activities, such as men who might be “johns”, that is men using prostitutes. Try calling in a licence plate if you can see it without confronting the driver.
If you are concerned about the health or well being of someone on the street, call 3-1-1 and ask for the Salvation Army Outreach Van. Your concerns could include a person in need of first aid, someone who is intoxicated, or someone at risk because of extreme weather.
